David Elton Trueblood (1900-1994) was an American Quaker author and theologian and served as chaplain to both Harvard and Stanford University. Inscribed by Trueblood, "To my dear Friend / Ed Slocum / in memory of / good years gone / by." and signed 8-27-1947.
