Rare copy of the first book published by Dennis Herbert Stovall (1878-1941), short story writer, novelist and journalist, known for writing about outdoor topics. This is a collection of poetry and prose. He was an 1898 graduate of Oregon State College where he served as the editor for the school paper, the Barometer. After graduating he worked for two decades for various Oregon newspapers. He moved to California around 1920 and was a resident in Sierra Madre and later Pasadena.
Includes a long story about a haunted house located on the Willamette River a few miles south of Corvallis, a poem for the Willamette, a short story about a cowboy of Eastern Oregon, a murder story set in Centerville, Washington, and a few other poems and short prose pieces.
