A thoroughly researched, well documented history, not only is this the story of the Rousdon Estate and the Peek family, but equally it is about the estate workers and what their lives were like. Based on ten years of research by Nicky Campbell, a local East Devon historian.
Rousdon is an English village, located between the cliff-top parish of Lyme Regis (Dorset) and the village of Colyford (Devon) on the southern coast of England. The 350 acre Rousdon estate was purchased in 1869 by Sir Henry Peek (1825-1898), a very successful businessman, philanthropist, and Conservative MP. He was made the 1st Baronet of Rousdon in 1874.
