John George Poorman (1882-1955) was a poultryman for many decades and had his central farm in Tinley Park (Cook County), Illinois, about 22 miles outside of Chicago off the Rock Island line. He started his business around 1900 and it appears that he retired sometime in the 1940's. In 1948 he moved to Beaumont, California. He was the author of Poorman's Poultry Guide (1922).
