136 page catalog showing Doetsch & Bauer's 1940 chair and divan models (including various settee, sofa, and davenport models). Includes a two-page price list effective November 1, 1939. The in vogue designs are categorized as 18th Century, Regency, French, Victorian and Modern. Most models were made of mahogany but they also had offerings in gumwood as well as a few other woods.
The Doetsch & Bauer Company of Chicago were manufacturers of fine furniture frames and had offices and factory showroom on Altgeld Street. The company was founded in 1907 as the Doetsch & Heider Company and changed its name in 1910 to Doetsch & Bauer after the death of its founder Joseph Doetsch in 1908. The company continued operations under Carl Bauer and was still in business up through the mid-1950's and possibly beyond.
