The story of William Duncan (1832-1918), an English-born Anglican missionary who founded the Tsimshian Christian communities of Metlakatla, British Columbia and at Metlakatla, Alaska. The author, John William Arctander (1849-1920), was born in Sweden and immigrated to the United States in 1871. He practiced law in Minneapolis and Willmar, Minnesota, before moving to Seattle around 1912. The Arctander Township in Kandiyohi County, Minnesota, is named for him. He was the author of a two novels, this biography, and translated Ibsen's play "The Master Builder" into English.
