Description: Leather boards stamped in gilt. All edge gilt. Some minor wear to corners and head and foot of spine; wear along top and bottom board edges; gilt bright. Hinges good. A few pages show a little soiling, else pages generally clean. Bottom edge of text block has some small indentations which result in the bottom edge of some pages having shallow spots of damage. Profusely illustrated. 646, [1] pp. 9.5 x 6.75 inches. Two copies noted on OCLC.

James Bethuel Smiley (1849-1911), was a Chicago publisher and traveling book agent. After issuing The Adugraph he went on to publish further volumes, including Modern Manners and Social Forms (1889), Ladies' Casket of Art and Treasury of Useful Knowledge (1891), Smiley's Manual of Practical Information and Standard Household Guide (1894), and Smiley's Cook Book and Universal Household Guide (1896).
