A 1924 book of practical suggestions on childrearing by the nationally famous couple, counselors on marriage and family. Ernest Rutherford Groves (1878-1946) served on the faculty of the University of North Carolina for almost two decades as a professor of sociology and was often quoted as an authority by physicians, psychiatrists and psychologists. Gladys Hoagland Groves (1894-1980) was a pioneer in counseling on sex and marriage, taught at the Garland School of Homemaking (which later merged with Boston University) and, after Ernest's death, served as a professor of family relations at University of North Carolina. Both Ernest and Gladys had been presidents of the National Council on Family Relations.
