Charles Alvan Brand (1872-1958) was born in Danvers, Massachusetts and educated at Oberlin College. He was a longtime resident of Roseburg and Wilbur in Douglas County, Oregon, and served for a few years in the Oregon Legislature and for more than two decades was on the Oregon State Board of Higher Education.
