The account of the homesteading family of John Wesley Price (1846-1914) and his children, including the author Maurice (1891-1966), and Clayton "Clate" (later to become the notable western artist "C. S. Price"). The family came to Wyoming from Iowa in 1886, and after a few years in Sheridan settled near Shell in Big Horn County. In 1908, John and five of his sons decided to sell their property and relocate in Alberta, east of Calgary. The narrative describes their journey from Wyoming to Alberta, making their way in their three wagons up through Billings, the Missouri Breaks, and Malta, in Montana, and on to Medicine Hat, Brooks, and Bussano in Alberta. They settled in the area around Three Hills and Rumsey (Starland and Kneehill Counties). Both Maurice and C.S. returned to the United States after the death of their father.
