Charles Caldwell Dobie (1881-1943) was a California author and native of San Francisco.

Edward Howard Suydam (1885-1940) was a nationally recognized artist and illustrator. He studied under Thornton Oakley at the School of Industrial Art in Philadelphia. Originally from New Jersey, he lived the last ten years of his life in San Francisco.
