Features a chapter on dairying, including eight pages on the production of various cheeses. More than 130 pages are dedicated to the diseases and ailments of cattle as well as their treatment.
The rear cover shows an advertisement for Keating's Insect-Destroying Powder, sold by Thomas Keating, chemist, at 79, St. Paul's Churchyard, London, E.C. The estimated publication date of 1870 is based on the publisher's particular London address "The Broadway, Ludgate" (as stated on the title page), which they used between the years 1866 and 1878.
