Collection of poetry by Samuel L. Simpson (1845-1899), pioneer poet of Oregon. Edited, with a preface by W. T. Burney.
The poem "An Out-of-Door Song" appears with a publisher's note tipped in at its conclusion, that indicates it had been included upon the recommendation of several Portland men who thought it was the work of Simpson, including John Gill [of the J. K. Gill Company]. Shortly after publication, however, it was found in a recently published work by Herbert Bashford, and so as to not dispute its authorship, Lippincott states that it will omit the piece from subsequent editions.
