William Wallace Everts (1814-1890) was a Baptist mister and author. He was educated at the Hamilton Literary and Theological Seminary (now Colgate University) and was ordained to the ministry in 1837. After a couple years at the Baptist Church in Earlville, New York, he served at two churches in Manhattan: the Baptist Tabernacle Church on Mulberry Street and the Laight Street Baptist Church (which he organized in 1843). In 1853, he was called to Louisville, Kentucky, to the Walnut Street Baptist Church. In 1859, he became the minister of the First Baptist Church of Chicago, where he retired in 1885, after more than two decades in the pulpit.
