The story follows Dan from the time of the great Cripple Creek fires of April 1896 until the final shut down of the mines in 1962.
Includes a few pieces of original poetry by the author, who was also known as "The Hard Rock Poet," and concludes with an 11-page essay on Winfield Scott Stratton, the discoverer of the Independence Lode, Cripple Creek Mining District's first millionaire, and philanthropist.
