An almost compete collection of issues of the "Eye Glass," a bi-weekly newspaper published for the soldiers of Fort Walla Walla and their families. These were written by Charles F. Smith, the editor of the Eye Glass. They were rather brief, each issue consisting of a handful of pages. The collection begins with Vol. 1, No. 1 (Feb 7, 1891) and goes up through Vol. 6, No. 2 (Mar 22, 1896). The originals were acquired at an estate sale and are photocopy reproduced here for historical reference. Six issues are missing and it is unknown if there were any more issues published after March 1896.
Fort Walla Walla was operated by the United States Army between 1856 and 1910 and is located in Walla Walla, Washington.
