About 200 children and adults gathered in an auditorium/gymnasium with the youngest seated at the front with the adults at the back of the room. Easter lilies seen in the foreground. According to the local paper, the service was held at 11am at the St. Johns Woods Community Center with the Rev. Glenn I. Nordquist as host pastor.
St. Johns Woods was a WW II War Housing Project in north Portland, today located just east of Pier Park on either side of Columbia Blvd. The St. Johns Woods Community Baptist Church itself was established in 1943 as a Sunday school under the war emergency program of the Portland Council of Churches and assigned to the Baptist General Conference. After the war, it was made a home mission project of Temple Baptist Church. The church was located at 8450 N. Johnswood Drive.
Condition: Very Good; Light general wear to item; crease in upper left corner. Reverse side has name of photographic studio and is a bit grubby.
