Description: Circa 1905 family portrait of Rev. Frank Brooks Cowgill (1856-1953), his wife Ida Lillian Hall (ca 1859-1927), and children Charles Hall (1884-1952), Nina F. (1885-1972), George Raymond (1893-1973), and Frank Hubert (1896-1986). From the photographic studio of N. B. Andersen, Redwood Falls, Minnesota.
The photograph is 7.5 x 9.5 inches on a mounting board (11 x 14). There are visible scuffs on the image. The mounting boards has a little bit of edgewear and a small blemish in the upper left corner. Pencil identification on the reverse: "Rev. F. B. Cowgill / Uncle Frank's Family".
Francis "Frank" Cowgill was born in Iowa and received his education at the Minnesota state school. He was a minister at Northfield (1888-92), St. Paul-Hamline (1892-97), St. Paul First Methodist Episcopal (1897-1901), Mankato (1901-04), Redwood Falls (1904-08), and Minneapolis (1908-13). In 1913 he moved to Fresno, California where he continued his ministry. It appears that his children had also relocated to California by the 1920s.
