Autobiography of Charles Leavitt Hyde (1860-1938), cowboy, cattleman, and a prominent businessman who helped found the city of Pierre, South Dakota. With extensive land holdings, by 1920 he had become the largest landowner in the state. In his autobiography, he also gives account of his thinking on professional success, government and economic depression, the prohibition of alcohol, and spiritualism and psychical research, and includes biographical profiles of his parents, siblings, children and grandchildren.
